A hard earned point

A first goal for 16-year-old winger Charlie Hawes was enough to see us earn a point against Folland Sports despite a number of injuries to the first team squad.

Going into the match off the back of Tuesday night's eventful draw away to Ash United, we were missing several key players. Kieran Hancock, Craig Bryant, Alex Wilson, John Cole and Harry Prisk all missed out and despite initially being named on the bench, Liam Magee soon joined them after dropping out through illness.
Despite this, we got off to a flying start. Hawes picked up the ball near the halfway line and shrugged off a defender. With the referee playing advantage, the young winger kept possession bursting into the box to fire into the top corner, a superb solo effort and great way to open your account for the season.

We maintained our narrow lead until the 71st minute when the visitors equalised through Jacob Brown, nodding in from a corner.
Follands continued to push for a winner but in the end, a 1-1 draw seemed a fair result.

Man of the match: Charlie Hawes
The scorer of the match opening goal, Hawes picks up the man of the match award for the second time this season after another superb performance. Remarkably to think it is his first season of men's football.
