Taking on last season's runners-up was always going to be a difficult task and despite a valiant first half, we fell to defeat against Andover New Street on Saturday.

The game had got off to a perfect start. In front of 121 supporters, Jack Odam raced down the right and crossed for Charlie Hawes to score his second in two games. It gave us the lead after just four minutes.

New Street soon levelled the game before provider turned scorer as Odam got on the end of Mark Fawley's pinpoint cross to score his tenth of the season.

Just before the break, the visitors equalised once again.

Despite going into half time level, it was the away side who would run away with it in the second period, scoring three unanswered goals to win 5-2.

In any other season, New Street would have won promotion last season, having finished just a point off top spot. However with the new playoff system introduced, the Andover side lost to eventual playoff winners Laverstock & Ford in the semi-finals.

We return to action tonight. We host Hampshire Premier League side Overton United in the first round of the North Hampshire Senior Cup, a competition we have not entered before. Entry is just £3 with programmes on sale for £2. The winner of the tie will progress into the quarter-finals.
