What a special night in Tadley.
Last night we secured our place in the North Hampshire Senior Cup final with a penalty shootout victory over Tadley Calleva.
A two-round trip faced Town players and fans as we travelled to the very north of the county to take on the Combined Counties Premier Division South side. Tadley came into the match sitting in 8th in the tier above Romsey.
Tadley had defeated Hampshire Premier League side Stockbridge to reach the semi-finals. We received a bye in the quarter-finals after Fleet Town pulled out of the competition.
We took an early lead after Kieran Hancock headed in a free-kick in the 15th minute. The boys then battled bravely as they faced a barrage of dangerous long throw-ins. Miles Bartram made save after save to deny the north Hampshire. Eventually the hosts levelled with just eight minutes to play to send the match to penalties.
After a couple of misses for each side during the first ten penalties, the shootout went to sudden death. After a fine stop from Bartram to deny the Tadley 'keeper from the spot, young defender Toby Gibson stepped up to score the winning penalty. It was our fourth consecutive shootout victory this s
eason in the cups.
The result means we progress into the final as we look to win the North Hampshire Senior Cup for the first time.
In the final we will meet either Basingstoke Town or Alresford Town who play each other next Tuesday. The final is likely to be held in May at Whitchurch United's ground.
This Saturday we return to league action as we face a short journey to take on Millbrook at Test Park.
And yes, the website is finally back live!
